You can’t find your way around the diet jungle – and don’t know which method can really help you lose weight? A study by Harvard University is now helping you to decide.
Study: This diet should really help
As scientists at Harvard University have now discovered, the low-carb diet is the only really working method of losing weight in the long term. For their study, the experts analyzed 53 studies with about 68,000 test persons who participated in two diets: Low-Carb and Low-Fat. The result: the people who did not eat fat weighed more than those who ate less carbohydrates.
All participants had an average weight loss of three kilos after one year. Those who opted for the low-carb diet lost an average of 1.5 kilograms more weight. Nevertheless, the low-fat diet is still better than an ordinary crash diet, which does not change your eating habits in the long term.
Successful weight loss thanks to efficiency
However, as Dr. Tobias explains according to the British “Telegraph”, it is not always just the amount of fat or carbohydrates we consume that matters. Rather, any diet that involves reduced portions and healthy, fresh foods is likely to be successful. “We should look beyond the ratio of fat, carbohydrates and protein and have a discussion about healthy, whole foods and portion sizes,” he says.
Either way, next time you want to lose a few kilos in the long term, go for smaller portions and delicious low-carb recipes. Then nothing can really go wrong.
