Microneedling is now offered in almost every beauty salon. We reveal what the facial treatment is all about, which is said to ensure a perfect complexion.
What’s microneedling?
We have Hollywood to thank for this trend, because stars and starlets love beauty treatments that are said to make facial skin look much better and more radiant. In fact, microneedling (also known as mesotherapy) is a cosmetic treatment that can be performed by a dermatologist or beautician.
It is recommended for problem skin, i.e. at the first signs of wrinkles, a slackened connective tissue, pale facial skin or other unpleasant side effects in the course of life. During the treatment, the uppermost skin layer is irritated to such an extent that increased collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are released. As a result, the skin should already look much firmer, firmer, younger and fresher after the first wrinkle treatment.
How does microneedling work and what are the advantages?
With microneedling the facial skin is treated with a derma roller. This is equipped with many fine and very short needles that prick the uppermost layer of skin (epidermis). The needle length is usually only 0.5 mm. By entering the epidermis, the skin is sent the signal that there is an injury that needs to be repaired.
As a reaction of the body, collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are now released – this strengthens the connective tissue. More precisely, collagen in the connective tissue has the task of strengthening it, while elastin ensures good elasticity and hyaluronic acid is responsible for the skin’s moisture retention. Through this interaction, a wide variety of skin problems (wrinkles, pigmentation marks, stretch marks, stretch marks, even scars or acne scars, etc.) should disappear after just a few sessions.
Additional plus of the application: Micro-Needling makes the skin more receptive to the effects of care products.
Microneedling: What risks does the application entail?
As you can already imagine, microneedling should ideally be applied by a professional, as it is a procedure with needles. Laypersons can quickly make mistakes or risk inflammation through incorrect handling. Therefore, we recommend to consult a professional dermatologist or cosmetician for skin rejuvenation, who offers this treatment. In this case the treatment does not involve any risks.
Can you use microneedling at home yourself?
If you want to do Microneedling or mesotherapy at home yourself, there are a few things you should consider. For example, the Dermaroller should always be properly disinfected to avoid possible infections. During the application with the device glide evenly over cheeks, chin, lips, forehead and neck. With the Dermaroller hardly exert pressure, so that you can hardly notice the punctures of the needles.
If this process is painful, it is important to reduce the pressure to avoid inflammation. Then provide the skin with the right care. This includes a serum and a rich moisturising cream. Avoid peelings for a few days after needling in order not to additionally irritate the skin. Dermaroller can be purchased from various cosmetics manufacturers (for example Ionto, Dermapen or Reviderm).
How expensive is the application?
As with all cosmetic treatments, the cost of a Needling session can vary greatly. On average, a 60 to 90-minute session costs around 300 euros. If you want to buy a Needling device yourself, you also have to reckon with about 300 Euros. However, it is then a one-time purchase and the Dermaroller can be used as often as you like.
