Long haircut is not a hairstyle? We ignore these prophecies of doom, because a long haircut should get as much attention as its colleagues Pixie and Bob.
Long haircuts: Thick hair with lateral fringe
A slanted fringe is great for giving volume and bounce to thick hair. The hairline looks loose, a large round brush is needed for styling. Light steps bring movement to the hair length.
Long haircuts: Fine hair can be more than shoulder length!
Even fine hair may wear long. Ideal: a center parting, which suggests volume, with the hair surrounding the face. The hair is cut to one length. It is important to pay attention to moisture care, because the tips of the hair rub against shoulders and clothing.
Long haircuts for wavy hair
An easy-care variant for wavy hair, which also tolerates a few months off from the hairdresser. The waves can be styled with a large round brush. Screw in individual strands, blow-dry and let them cool down well. Only then turn them carefully out of the brush and do not comb them out.
Thick hair with center parting
Thick hair is ideal to be worn long. With a simple center parting and straight hair tips, even color gradients such as highlights or ombré hair look exciting.
Long fringe
An XL-Pony can have fine hair, but also normal and thick hair. If you have a high forehead, you can conceal it this way. The sides are gently stepped, if you want a small wave, you can style it with the straightening iron: Wrap a thicker strand around the straightening iron and pull it through slowly.
Straight XL-Pony for thick hair
This is the straight version, which gives thick hair a cool look. With this haircut regular recutting is mandatory.
Different lengths
Straight fine straight hair needs a bit of bounce if it is worn for a longer period of time. A fringe of different length can bring movement to the hairstyle, the steps are continued in the lengths.
Same length with extreme side parting
An extreme side parting can make a classic longhair cut more exciting.
Curls without fixed parting
Curls gain volume when they are cut in steps. This hairstyle does not have a fixed parting, the hair can be styled on different sides. However, only thick hair gets the stand at the hairline, curls in fine hair are closer to the head.
Strong steps in the lengths
Starting at the chin length, the hair was graded in this hairstyle. About 15 centimeters are between the longest and shortest hair.
Long haircut must match the hair type
Whether long hair is the right decision depends not only on the face shape but also on the hair type.
Because thin hair is not necessarily worn optimally at hip length. Even if you think you’ve been a Long Hair Girl since kindergarten days, it’s better to wear fine hair at most than Long Bob, because otherwise the lengths will simply become too thin. If you still want to wear longer, you should not necessarily choose steps and have your hair cut regularly.
Thick hair, on the other hand, is best worn long, as a wavy mane with light steps or as a long haircut with bangs (we’ll show you more ideas for hairstyles with bangs). Depending on the hair structure, the hairstyle should be wavy (perfect for a step cut and beach waves) or straight (a long hairstyle with bangs or in a sleek look with a center parting fits perfectly) cut and styled.
If you have curls, it is best to wear long hair in a stepped style – otherwise the waves will hang out too much. The bigger the steps are cut, the more voluminous the curls. If you don’t like your curls, have your hair cut straight, this takes some volume out of the hair, especially in the upper part. A straightening iron (make sure to use a heat protection spray) can straighten the lengths, but we also tell you a few tricks how to style your hair straighter without a straightening iron and without heat.
Long haircut – the trends 2020
The XL-Pony is an evergreen and also 2020 trend, just like the step cut. In 2020, however, the eighties style of wearing the hair without a fixed parting and simply swinging the long hair loosely to one side will return. A long bob is popular because it suits most women – this year it is also popular in combination with a pony. Anyone who wants to prove their courage and sense of trends will wear the mullet – in 2020 it proves that it can also be chic.
So it stays in shape
Of course a long haircut forgives a longer hairdresser’s abstinence a bit more than an accurately cut short haircut. But it must also be trimmed regularly, which means: Make an appointment for trimming every two to three months!
Long hair needs care
Many beauty brands have now recognized the niche and have launched hair care lines for long hair that are specially designed to meet the needs. For example, easy combing is one such topic, because knotted lengths don’t look nice and can be painful to brush out. Long hair often has the problem of being dry – after all, it rubs against shoulders, handbag straps and is squashed in braids. Moisture and shine are then their needs, which the right hair care can meet.
