You’re not supposed to pop pimples. But if you have to, then please do it in these six steps.
Annoying pimples – No question!
And that is precisely why the temptation to tamper with it is great. Experts advise against it – after all, it can even be dangerous to squeeze a pimple on certain parts of the face (remember: you should never squeeze a pimple yourself at this point). In addition, squeezing the pimple makes it easier for bacteria on the skin to get into the open wounds. Most of the time, a sebum remains in the sebaceous gland hair follicle anyway and the pimple starts to sprout again immediately. Scars can of course also form in the process.
Sometimes it has to be easy – This is how you safely pop a pimple
With all due caution: who likes to go on a date with a white pus on his face? Or has the time to make an appointment with the cosmetician or dermatologist for every pimple? If you want to do things yourself, you should pay attention to a few things. We will show you the six steps to gently and effectively deal with a pimple. It is also important: after two or three unsuccessful attempts, please give up. Otherwise the risk of injury and scarring increases! If you suffer from late acne permanently, you should consult a dermatologist.
Popping pimples in 6 steps
- This makes the work easier: Place a washcloth with very warm water on the affected skin area. This opens the pores and the pimple is easier to pop it.
- Before one presses wildly on it, one should look at the pimple very exactly. If it is encapsulated and lies deep under the skin, you should never touch it. It will only get more inflamed. A “normal” pimple takes one or two days to surface. Only when the white becomes visible, you may pop.
- Little beauty tool tip for hygienic and gentle squeezing: a comedone extractor is better than fingers. The comedone squeezer is a small, about 10 cm long piece of metal with which it is possible to squeeze out a blackhead carefully. At each end there is something like an eyelet, exactly in between you position the pimple. Disinfect before use!
- Pop a pimple with your bare fingers? Absolute no-go! Firstly, bacteria can get into the wound, and secondly, sharp fingernails can quickly injure the surrounding skin. If you don’t have a comedone extractor, here’s what you should do: Wrap a handkerchief or cosmetic tissue around each index finger and carefully approach the pimple.
- It is best to position one finger in the 3 o’clock position and the other in the 9 o’clock position. You should not only pop the pimple superficially, but get under the infection. Therefore do not place your fingers too close to the pimple. When the pimple is really ripe to be squeezed out, it will give way when slight pressure is applied. If not: stop! Otherwise the inflammation will become even worse! If the pimple releases pus, you should then press it from another position, e.g. one finger at 2 o’clock, the other at 7 o’clock. This way you can make sure that no pus remains under the skin.
- After popping the area is best treated with an anti-pimple product. The ingredients contained help the pimple to heal and prevent a new infection. As the skin breaks open when popping, a small crust usually remains. Even when this is gone, a pimple mark often remains. When the pimple is completely healed, brightening creams or peelings with fruit acids help to lighten the dark spots.
Popping pimples obviously gives satisfaction
Popping pimples obviously has a great fascination for all of us. How else can you explain Dr Pimple Popper’s overwhelming viral success? Dr Pimple Popper is a dermatologist from Upland, California, named Dr Sandra Lee. About a year ago, the doctor began posting videos of pimple treatments on a YouTube channel – with fabulous success. The videos are really only for VERY strong nerves.
