Parchment paper substitute: Simple alternatives that you have at home
- An alternative to parchment paper is for example good old bread paper. The best thing is to unfold the bags and put as many next to each other as you need.
- It is obvious and very effective: Usually it is also sufficient to rub the baking tray well with fat. Use butter, margarine, tasteless oil or coconut fat.
- Greasy cake doughs can be baked wonderfully on a greased baking tray. You can also put thin dough on the greased baking tray, but first add some breadcrumbs or simply flour.
- You still have tinfoil in the house? Very good, because you can use that on the grating. Just don’t make the food too heavy, because tinfoil can crack. Buns, French fries or pizza are definitely suitable. So that nothing sticks, the foil should also be slightly greased. Spread it with some oil or margarine.

- Baking pad made of silicone: Easy to clean and long lasting. Often the baking mats can even be cleaned in the dishwasher.
- Baking foil made of glass fibre: This is coated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which many know as “Teflon”. The advantages: It can be used several hundred times and you can cut this base to your own specifications.
- Baking tray made of glass: You can bake anything on it without sticking! It can be used not only as a baking tray, but also as a serving tray.
- Pizza or bread baking stone: These stones are made of different materials, fireclay and cordierite are the most famous. They tolerate high temperatures in the oven, but take longer to heat up.
