There are more and more multi-resistant germs. But does it always have to be antibiotics? Researchers attribute honey and turmeric to similarly effective effects in infections.
It is a momentous mistake that many doctors still make: they prescribe antibiotics even though it is not clear which pathogen caused the disease. The problem is that antibiotics are only effective against bacteria, but respiratory infections such as colds or acute bronchitis are mainly caused by viruses. In order to identify the pathogen unambiguously, a laboratory test would be necessary, which would cost time and nerves. In the simplest case, the prescribed antibiotics simply have no effect without the detection of bacteria.
More and more multi-resistant germs
But the real problem is a different one: germs are developing more and more resistance to the antibiotics we know of. If you take these drugs several times a year, you run the risk that sooner or later they will no longer be effective against bacteria. And that’s not all: antibiotics can damage the intestinal flora and weaken the immune system, which in turn increases the risk of further infections.
So what should we do? In some cases it might make sense to rely on the power of nature instead of antibiotics: Researchers have been able to prove through studies that honey and turmeric in particular are hardly inferior to some antibiotics.
Honey as a substitute for antibiotics
A study by Australian researchers has been published in the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, demonstrating the efficacy of honey against pathogens. According to the study, the sweet gold destroys germs of all kinds – regardless of whether it is applied directly to wounds or taken orally by the patient. Dr Dee Carter of the University of Sydney said: “Our research is the first to clearly show that these honey-based products can in many cases replace antibiotic creams on wounds and devices such as catheters. The use of honey as an intermediate treatment could also prolong the life of antibiotics.”
Turmeric – a true all-rounder
For thousands of years turmeric has played an important role in Ayurvedic medicine. It has numerous health benefits due to the curcuminoids it contains. These are said to have the following effects:
- Anti-inflammatory
- Antibacterial
- antioxidant
- Antiseptic
- Antimycotic (for fungal infections)
A study that proves the effectiveness of turmeric against bacteria can be found here.
Never sick again thanks to honey and turmeric?
The combination of honey and turmeric should therefore help with various diseases in a natural way and thus be able to replace antibiotics in some cases. Together they fight all kinds of infections that can be caused by bacteria and fungi.
And this is how you make the natural antibiotic yourself
The best thing is: You can easily make the natural wonder drink yourself! You need it:
- 1 tbsp turmeric
- 100 grams honey
Both ingredients are mixed until a homogeneous paste is obtained. The paste is placed in a boiled container and sealed airtight. If you have an infection, take half a teaspoon of the paste every hour on the first day and every two hours on the second day. From the third day on, three half teaspoons a day are enough.
Attention: Even if they are natural remedies, they should only be tested in consultation with your doctor.
