  • Jasmine tea usually consists of green tea and jasmine flowers. The flowers give the green tea a special aroma. Originally, the jasmine blossoms were intended to upgrade inferior tea varieties.
  • The taste and aroma of jasmine tea depends on the production process. The mixing of green tea and jasmine blossoms is also called a wedding. The more often it comes to the wedding, the more intense the taste.
  • Jasmine tea originally comes from China. However, it is also cultivated in countries such as India, Japan or Malaysia, and is therefore distinguished by a large number of unique tea varieties.

Jasmine tea inspires by many different variations. The following three types of tea are particularly popular:

  • Chung Hao: This variety is considered to have a particularly harmonious taste and, due to the essential oils, brings out the aroma of the jasmine flowers particularly well.
  • Chinese Jasmine Tea: This variety is especially popular in China for social occasions. It is characterized by its yellow-orange color.
  • Yin Hao: This jasmine tea first enhances the taste of green tea and unfolds in the aftertaste with the aroma of jasmine flowers.

Effect of Jasmine Tea

  • Blood pressure: Jasmine tea can have a positive effect on your heart health due to the catechins it contains. They improve blood values by preventing the oxidation of “bad” LDL cholesterol.
  • Antioxidant: Jasmine tea has a positive effect on your immune system mainly due to its antioxidant properties. The immune system is responsible for stopping bacteria entering the body. Therefore a strong immune system is an important prerequisite for your health.
  • Stimulant: Jasmine tea, just like black tea, contains half as much caffeine as coffee. This means that it is still stimulating, but not as strong. In addition, tea helps you maintain concentration for longer because it is absorbed more slowly by the body.
  • Relaxing: Especially the essential oils contained in tea make you feel relaxed. However, people who generally have problems with the stomach and intestines are better off avoiding them.
  • Bones and eyesight: Vitamins promote eye function and nerves. Minerals such as fluorine or potassium support the building of bones.

Preparation of Jasmine Tea

  • No lime: For the preparation of jasmine tea you should definitely follow a few tips. The preparation is not difficult in itself, but it can fail if you disregard certain rules. In order for the tea to have its full effect on taste and health, you should not prepare it with water containing lime. The best effect is achieved by using filtered water
  • No boiling water: Also avoid contact with hot water over 80 degrees. This would give the jasmine tea a very bitter aroma, which is neither tasty nor good for your health. Leave the boiled water to cool down for a few minutes.
  • Quantities and times: For one cup of tea, one spoon of jasmine tea. When you have mixed the tea with the slightly cooled water, let it steep for another two to five minutes. You can also infuse the tea several times.

Is Tea even Healthy?

  • Tea production is not undisputed. The conditions on many tea plantations do not meet the social standards. In addition, the pesticides that are often used are harmful to the environment and affect the enjoyment of tea.
  • You should therefore always buy tea from organic farming. This is the only way to ensure that there are no residues in the tea. Furthermore, the presence of a FairTrade logo is a good indication that the tea was produced under humane conditions.
  • Basically you should not drink only tea all day long either. To fully enjoy the positive effects, two to three cups are quite sufficient. Also vary regularly between different sorts. The effect of green tea is also extremely positive.
