Excessive head sweating is bothering you? Here you can find out when the sweat production is excessive and how to counteract it.
Excessive Head Sweating: When is sweating normal?
Sweating is not a bad thing in itself, as it balances the temperature differences in the body by conducting heat outwards through the skin.
- During strenuous activities, such as sports, excessive sweating is completely normal for the time of the activity.
- Even under stress, for example in an exam situation, your body can produce sweat that has nothing to do with an illness.
- Only very heavy sweating, which does not only occur in extreme situations, can be an indication of a disease.
Origin
- If excessive sweating is pathological, the doctor speaks of hyperhidrosis. Sweating can only affect individual areas of the body, such as the head (forehead) or the armpits. This is called focal hyperhidrosis. If the whole body is affected, it is called generalised hyperhidrosis.
- A distinction is also made between primary and secondary hyperhidrosis. In secondary hyperhidrosis, increased sweat production is due to another disease, whereas primary hyperhidrosis embodies heavy sweating itself as a disease.
Causes
- Genetically determined
- Anyone taking certain medications (e.g. hormone tablets) must expect increased sweat production on the head (face and forehead).
- Interval fasting or other irregular food intake lowers the blood sugar level. Heavy perspiration on the head can be the consequence.
- If you wash your hair too often, this also stimulates the sweat glands.
- Stress, nervousness and a poor sleep rhythm can also make disproportionate demands on the sweat glands.
- Diseases such as cancer, gout or Parkinson’s disease as well as hyperthyroidism cause an increased temperature in the body, so that excessive sweating can occur, especially on the face.
Treatment
- In case of an illness, it is of course important to treat it accordingly. If the treatment is successful, sweat production should also decrease.
- As a home remedy, cooled, fresh sage tea is recommended, which you can dab on the face.
- In addition, vinegar and baby powder, mixed in equal proportions, is a proven combination that you can dab onto your forehead with a cloth.
- Antiperspirants are available especially for the head and face and make sure that excessive sweating does not occur in the first place.
General tips
- Alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine and spicy food do not help to relieve the sweat glands. On the contrary: they stimulate sweat production.
- Make sure you drink enough water during sweat-causing activities. This causes the body to lose water, which you should take up again.
- Alternate showers and lukewarm water on the wrists help to stimulate the blood circulation and reduce sweat production.
My head has been heavy sweating since I can remember. I changed my diet several times and stopped wearing my favorite caps and hats. I don’t take meds, I am not sick, maybe it’s hereditary, my grandfather had such problems too, I know that it was hard for him to cure it. I was luckier, first tried one medical product electro antiperspirant with an adapter for the scalp and I still use it today. I have heard a lot about how some people are unsatisfied with the botox applications ( I’m still scared about how looks like), this product just works as it is supposed to. Excellent solution, service, packaging, and price. http://www.electroantiperspirant.com/get-iontophoresis-device
