Would you like longer hair, but don’t feel like waiting forever for it? No problem! You can find out here how you can stimulate your hair growth.
Tip 1: Stimulate hair growth with scalp massages
In order to stimulate hair growth, the scalp must be stimulated. This is where the hair roots, which produce the individual hair fibers, are located. If the blood supply to the hair roots increases, they absorb more nutrients, which promotes hair growth.
A very simple and quick method of scalp stimulation is a classic massage with your fingers. Massage the skin daily with light pressure to stimulate the scalp’s microcirculation. Scientists found that about four minutes of massage per day is enough for hair to grow back faster and thicker.
Tip 2: Nutritional treatment for your hair
Your hair can only grow back strongly and quickly if the body is supplied with all the important essential nutrients. Logical: If the body lacks the necessary building blocks, hair growth is delayed and the hair grows back thin and weak.
There are three main nutrients that are important for healthy hair:
- Biotin: This trace element protects your hair from hair loss and gives the hair more stability. Since biotin is a main component of the hair fiber, this nutrient must be present in sufficient quantities for the hair to grow back healthily. Eggs, dairy products and peanuts are good sources of biotin.
- Zinc: Zinc is a mineral that is extremely important for scalp health. It keeps the hair roots healthy, which are responsible for hair production. Zinc deficiency can cause thinning hair, an itchy scalp, and hair loss. Oysters, beef, whole grains or legumes are considered real zinc bombs that have a positive effect on hair growth.
- Protein: Our hair consists to a large extent of keratin, a protein. If you don’t consume enough protein, you run the risk of limp, brittle hair that grows back very slowly. Protein can be found in meat, fish, dairy products, tofu or lentils, for example.
If you consume enough of these nutrients, your hair will grow back faster and stronger.
Tip 3: Stimulate hair growth with caffeine
Perhaps you have already discovered them on the cosmetics shelf: tinctures that stimulate hair growth and improve hair thickness. If these products contain the active ingredient caffeine, they can actually improve the quality of the hair.
In 2014, scientists were able to prove that caffeine promotes hair growth. The reason: caffeine improves blood circulation at the applied area and delays hair loss. As a result, they grow faster and fall out less.
When applying the caffeine tincture, make sure to apply it evenly, otherwise the hair will grow back at different rates.
On the other hand, you can also use a scalp tincture to work very specifically on certain areas – for example, the front of the temples. This area is known to grow back particularly slowly and would benefit greatly from a little caffeine treatment.
Tip 4: Essential oils
Not only caffeine is considered a real hair growth booster. Essential oils can also make your mane grow faster if you use them correctly.
Essential oils are not classic fatty oils, such as coconut or olive oil. Essential oils are volatile plant aromas that consist of a variety of complex organic compounds. Peppermint essential oil is particularly suitable for stimulating hair growth. Korean researchers were able to prove this in 2014.
Attention: You should never apply essential oils undiluted. They are highly concentrated and can cause redness and skin irritation if they are not diluted. Mix four to five drops of the essential oil with a tablespoon of aloe vera gel or coconut oil (if it may be more nourishing). Then massage this mixture into the entire scalp. Leave on for 15 minutes and wash and condition the hair as usual. A completely natural way to stimulate hair growth.
Plus point: If you apply peppermint oil several times a week, you will quickly reduce greasy hair.
Tip 5: Use gentle hair care products
If you want your hair to grow faster, you should eliminate any factors that could affect hair growth. And that includes above all sulphate-rich shampoos.
Sulphates are cleansing surfactants that are found in many conventional shampoos. They ensure that the shampoo lathers nicely and that dirt, grease and styling residues are removed.
Unfortunately, sulfates have a very drying effect, which permanently damages the hair fiber. The tips break off faster, which means you can never gain much hair length. Sulphates are also suspected of promoting hair loss. They come very close to the hair roots when shampooing and disrupt the natural balance of the scalp. This can disrupt hair growth.
Play it safe and rely on gentle hair care. Reach for a sulfate-free shampoo that will keep your scalp and lengths healthy. A natural cosmetic product is particularly recommended – it does not contain any harmful ingredients. Organic shampoos contain mild cleansing surfactants, e.g. coconut-based, which gently remove deposits from the skin and hair. This allows the hair to grow back vigorously and hair breakage is reduced.
