What are the ways to eliminate the blackening and burns that occur over time on irons? Here are the solutions.
Darkening (residues, burns) on the soleplate of the iron, which can be caused by incorrect use of the iron or by the clothes, has sometimes been a problem for us as well. After that, ironing became almost a torture. Of course, although the first thing that comes to mind is to wipe it with a wet wipe or something, not much results have been obtained.
So, let’s talk about ways to remove these darkening on the iron:
Mixture of salt and white vinegar
Start heating the mixture in the saucepan and let the salt dissolve. Complete this process before the vinegar boils. Then, dip a clean cloth in vinegar and clean the bottom of your iron with this cloth.
Cleaning with toothpaste
Apply about a quarter tube of toothpaste to the soleplate with the help of a cloth. After a while, wet another cloth and clean the toothpaste. Pay more attention to the part where the holes are, as there may be accumulation in the part of the steam holes. In this process, use white toothpaste, not gel ones.
Mixture of water and carbonate
Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to about a quarter cup of water. Make a paste until there is no water left. Apply to the iron soleplate with the help of a spatula. While applying, try to drive evenly and not to drive in different thicknesses. Then wipe it off with a damp cloth.
Mixture of warm water and dish soap
Add dish soap to the lukewarm water according to the darkened surface. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and wipe the soleplate of your iron. Again, pay special attention to the steam holes.
Candle use
After applying the candle to a slightly warmed iron, wait a while and clean it by wetting a thick cloth. You can iron a fabric until the bottom of the iron shines as before.
Use of acetone
Clean a slightly heated iron with a cotton pad dipped in acetone. Then rub it thoroughly with a damp cloth. Try to do this method outdoors.
Sprinkle plenty of salt on a greaseproof paper and iron
It can be newsprint, but the best thing is to sprinkle salt on a non-flammable baking paper and then iron the salt like ironing clothes.
