Blonde highlights set brilliant accents. We have five home remedies that you can use to naturally lighten your hair – without any chemicals!
Wistfully you remember your last beach vacation, after which you not only got a tan, but also returned with a natural beach blonde? The great thing about it is that you don’t have to fly to the Holidays, nor do you have to spend a lot of money at the hairdresser’s or have your hair bleached. Whether camomile, honey or lemon juice – here are five home remedies that will help you lighten your hair naturally.
1. Lightening hair naturally with chamomile
A particularly gentle way to give your hair soft golden highlights is to wash your mane with chamomile tea. Camomile can lighten the hair up to two shades.
This is how it works: Pour boiling water into a large cup. Pour boiling water over a handful of dried chamomile flowers or a tea bag of chamomile in a large cup and let it steep for about ten minutes. Shampoo the hair as usual, rinse with clear water and pour the cooled chamomile tea over the freshly washed hair – do not rinse! Now let the hair dry in the air or in the sun. This enhances the effect.
2. Lightening hair naturally with lemon
Lemon juice opens the cuticle so that the sun can penetrate the hair, breaks down the natural color pigments and visually brightens the lengths.
So you can naturally lighten your hair: Simply squeeze the juice of a lemon and mix with about 250 milliliters of water. Now pour the mixture of lemon juice and water into a spray bottle and apply it to your hair. Now it’s time to put on your bikini for sunbathing! While we work on our summer tan, the sun conjures summer highlights in your hair. Be careful with already tinted or colored hair! This attacks the hair structure and color-treated hair is even more stressed.
3. Lightening hair naturally with honey
Honey is not only healthy, but also a great home remedy with which you can naturally lighten your hair. The enzyme glucose oxidase contained in honey converts glucose and oxygen into hydrogen peroxide, which is also used in hairdressing salons for bleaching. Another benefit: The bee product provides additional care for the hair and makes it shiny and smooth.
This is how you can lighten hair naturally with honey: Mix two tablespoons of honey with your hair conditioner and apply evenly to the hair. Wrap the hair with cling film and leave it on overnight – the heat intensifies the lightening effect. Rinse the hair thoroughly with clean water the next morning.
4. Lightening hair naturally with salt
Are you already sitting on the beach enjoying the sun? Then this tip comes in handy: just hold your head in the sea and then dry in the sun, done! If you still have to wait for your vacation, you can also use salt from the pantry to ensure blonde strands in your hair.
This is how it works: Dissolve one teaspoon of salt (sea salt) in 250 milliliters of water. Rinse or spray the hair with the mixture. Now it is time to get some sun again. Rinse the salt water with clear water after about an hour and enjoy the beach blonde!
5. Lightening hair naturally with vodka
Sounds crazy, but it really works! You can also lighten your hair with vodka. The alcohol attacks the hair structure so that the UV light can penetrate and extract the color pigments.
This is how it works for the hair: Wash the hair as usual with a mild shampoo. Then pour a cup of vodka over the lengths. Let the mane dry in the sun and then rinse the alcohol with water. Do you have dry hair or damaged hair? Then you better keep your hands off the vodka. The alcohol could dry out your mane even more and lead to split ends or hair breakage.
