Eating all night without gaining weight? Sounds too good to be true. We’ll show you eight healthy, low-fat foods you can eat all you want.
The nutritional physician Dr. Pierre Dukan, founder of the so-called Dukan diet, knows: “There are numerous foods that you can eat your fill. However, the prerequisite for this is that you do not combine these foods with carbohydrate suppliers. It is important that you consume as little fat and carbohydrates as possible, but proteins and vitamins instead.
You can eat the following eight foods all evening without having a guilty conscience. On the contrary – they help you lose weight.
1. Cauliflower
Fresh cauliflower is one of the best suppliers of vitamin C and can be prepared in a variety of ways: Steaming, boiling, mashing, frying or – as shown in the picture below – baking. But beware: due to its high potassium content, this vegetable is particularly diuretic.
2. Broccoli
Broccoli has few calories and is also rich in vitamin C. In concrete terms: there are only 25 calories per 100 grams. The green vegetable is also said to prevent cancer. Broccoli is simply thrown into boiling water or fried for a few minutes.
3. Carrots
Carrots are generally well tolerated and contain a high proportion of beta-carotene. A plant pigment that is also said to prevent cancer, strengthen vision and stimulate the metabolism. Carrots are wonderfully suited as a side dish for lean meat or fish. Or also in grated form in salads.
4. Fennel
Fennel has a headstrong taste. However, once you have discovered this for yourself, you will benefit from the advantages of the plant. Because fennel is healthy and low in calories and is also said to have medicinal healing powers. Fennel tea, for example, helps with digestive problems and has an antispasmodic effect. Fennel can also be prepared according to choice: Boil, fry, braise…
5. Grapefruit
Whoever wants to lose weight should rely on the power of grapefruit. The citrus fruit with its delicate, bitter taste gets by with a light 45 calories per 100 grams. It also provides effective substances such as pectin and vitamin C, which boost the metabolism. Although you could theoretically eat grapefruit all day, the fibre pectin will prevent you from doing so. Pectin promotes digestion and swells up in the gastrointestinal tract.
Caution: If you are taking medication, it is better to avoid grapefruit – whether in juice or whole fruit. The fruit can increase the effect of medication, including the negative side effects. The reason for this is the furanocoumarins contained in the grapefruit, which block substances in the intestine that are important for the breakdown of many medicines.
6. Spinach
Spinach also has hardly any calories, but an enormous amount of folic acid. Spinach tastes best steamed with fish or eggs, but also raw as a salad. However, we are not talking about creamed spinach from the freezer!
7. Tomatoes
Tomatoes have only 17 calories per 100 grams and are therefore extremely low in calories. They also contain several valuable organic substances such as vitamin B, K and lycopene. Whether raw, cooked or grilled: tomatoes can be prepared in many different ways.
8. Rhubarb
You can also eat as much rhubarb as you like. The vegetables are traditionally eaten as compote or in baked form. They are rich in vitamin C and magnesium – giving you energy and resilience.
