Grandmother’s home remedies or medicine from the pharmacy – what helps better? Many people swear by homemade remedies from their own kitchen – such as garlic milk.
I beg your pardon? Garlic milk? No, I’m sure you’re not the only one who hasn’t heard of it. But it’s true: a drink made from garlic and milk used to be a popular household remedy to combat numerous diseases and ailments.
How do you make garlic milk?
The recipe for garlic milk is as simple as it is ingenious: you simmer garlic in milk. For every glass of milk (about 200 ml) you add 4 cloves of garlic. Simply chop them into small pieces or press them through a garlic press, heat them together with the milk and let them simmer for a short time.
Then drink the garlic milk warm. If you are disgusted by the garlic pieces, you can pour the liquid through a sieve or a filter beforehand. If you want to sweeten the taste a little, you can stir in honey.
What is garlic milk good for?
Garlic milk is said to have numerous healing effects. It is mainly drunk as a home remedy for back or sciatic pain (just one glass a day is said to help). Other complaints for which garlic milk is said to help are dry cough, insomnia, colds, jaundice and intestinal problems.
