Wrinkles, dark circles, swellings? From eye cream to make-up – we have the best beauty tips for a well-groomed eye area!
Eye care against wrinkles
Problem: At 0.5 mm, the area around the eyes is almost four times thinner than the rest of the facial skin. In addition, there is hardly any subcutaneous fatty tissue and few sebaceous and sweat glands, which protect it from drying out and – last but not least – 10,000 blinking movements per day! So if you want to counteract wrinkles and lines, good eye care should be taken early on.
This helps:
- Moisture, moisture and again moisture! This already applies from the age of 25. Eye care with hyaluronic acid is ideal.
- With increasing age, collagen production also decreases and the skin loses its elasticity. Textures with vitamin C, E and peptides now provide maximum anti-aging care.
- Also not to forget: the effect of the beauty hero Vitamin A (Retinol). This boosts the cell metabolism.
- An absolute must for during the day: a cream with UV protection. UV radiation is and remains the main factor for premature skin aging!
Eye care for shadows under the eyes
Problem: The skin around the eyes is particularly thin, allowing blood and lymph vessels to shine through. How pronounced the dark circles around the eyes are, in turn, depends on how well the veins are supplied with blood. Too little sleep and too much stress, for example, change the oxygen concentration in the blood, making it flow more slowly and causing it to turn dark.
The result: bluish shimmering rings under the eyes that greet us already when we look in the mirror in the morning. Lack of sleep and a high level of stress are only two factors for the dark shadows. Pigment accumulations, too little liquid or the wrong diet in the form of mineral or vitamin deficiencies can also cause eye shadows. While brownish-black discolorations, for example, indicate a lack of iron, bluish-red rings under the eyes are a sign of magnesium deficiency.
This helps:
- If you can’t get the shadows under your eyes under control despite enough sleep, fluids and nutrition, you can reach into the make-up bag of tricks and conjure up the unsightly discoloration with a concealer.
- Products with mother-of-pearl particles that reflect the light are also great here.
Eye care against swelling
Problem: The night was short, the day before stressful and a few glasses of wine in the evening do the rest to reward us with big, puffy eyes and puffiness the next day. However, bags under the eyes can also be triggered by illnesses or allergies. The main cause is the congested lymph fluid, which can drain more poorly, especially at night when the body is in a horizontal position.
This helps:
- Make sure you get enough sleep – at least seven hours. Choose a pillow that is not too flat or too thick so that the head and spine form a straight line.
- It is essential to ensure a room temperature of 18 to 19 degrees. The warmer the bedroom, the bigger the eyes get.
- An eye cream with caffeine or a massage ball, cools, reduces swelling and stimulates microcirculation.
- Massage the skin with the index and middle fingers starting from the bridge of the nose to the temples. Then from the outer corner of the eye under the brows back to the bridge of the nose. Repeat five times.
Eye care for irritation and redness
Problem: The eye area is particularly sensitive and needs a lot of care: its low hydro-lipid film offers the delicate skin little self-protection. Too much make-up or the wrong products as well as sun etc. can quickly lead to irritated and reddened eyes. Especially contact lens wearers suffer.
This helps:
- Relief is provided by lotions or tonics with bisabolol, chamomile or panthenol.
- Reddened, irritated skin often lacks sufficient moisture. Eye care with hyaluronan or thermal water is good. The Hydra boosters penetrate deep into the skin and bind the moisture there.
- Drops with eyebright calm and stabilize the blood vessels.
- Quick help in between: After cleaning, soak two cotton pads with a lotion specially developed for the sensitive eye area and apply as a soothing and relaxing eye compress for ten minutes.
