Detergent

• Put some washing-up liquid in warm water and soak the jewellery briefly in it.
• With a soft toothbrush you can carefully remove the dirt from the gold jewellery.
• After cleaning, the jewellery must be dried with a cloth.

Toothpaste

Stubborn stains can be removed with some toothpaste:

• Here too, you take a soft toothbrush and rub it into your jewellery with light pressure.
• Then rinse with lukewarm water and dry.

Baking Powder

• To clean gold you simply need 1 teaspoon baking powder and a gold cleaning cloth (alternatively it works with a soft microfibre cloth).
• Polish your jewelry with it for a few minutes and then rinse it with warm water. Do not forget to dry it!

Soda

This home remedy works just like baking powder:

• Rub your gold jewellery with baking soda, let it soak in briefly and then rinse it off.
• After drying with a cloth, the shine is quickly restored.

Aluminium foil

• For an intensive cleaning you can put aluminium foil in a pot.
• Fill it with hot water and some salt.
• Put the gold jewellery in it for about 5 – 10 minutes.
• Take the jewellery out and rinse it afterwards.
• Dry the jewellery and polish it with a microfibre cloth or gold pouch cloth.

You’ll notice that your gold is really shining again. If there are precious stones in your gold jewellery, this method should not be used under any circumstances.

With the precious metal it depends on the gold content. The lower the alloy the more often you should clean it. To keep your jewellery shining, you should clean it once a week. If you don’t have enough time, you should at least clean them regularly.
