For dry, oily or demanding skin: Care oils are the secret weapon of beauty! If you now adjust the face oil to your skin type, nothing can go wrong. We show you how!
Face oils are hardly to be excluded from the daily beauty routine. It strengthens the natural protective barrier and provides sensitive skin and dry skin with proper moisture and essential fatty acids – the perfect day and night care!
However, not every oil is suitable for every skin type. Especially oily or combination skin needs different care than dry skin. You ask yourselves: Which face oil is suitable for which skin type? We explain it to you!
Face oil for every skin type – Oily skin
A face oil for shiny, blemished skin or even acne? You bet! It is wrong to believe that an oil would make combination skin shine even more. It also clogs the pores and thus promotes more pimples and skin blemishes. Many face oils have sebum-regulating ingredients. They signal to the skin that it can shut down its own sebum production, as it is already receiving enough fat from the outside. The effect: the complexion is less shiny and pimples and impurities are reduced.
It is also important to make sure that the facial oil is not comedogenic. The term comedogenic describes whether an oil clogs the pores and promotes pimples or blackheads.
These oils are good for oily skin:
- Argan oil relieves acne, pimples and impurities and is rich in vitamin E, antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids. Furthermore, this oil has an antibacterial and skin calming effect.
- Hemp oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects and, thanks to the active ingredient cannabidiol, promotes rapid healing of pimples.
- Jojoba oil regulates the skin’s own sebum production and is anti-inflammatory. At the same time the oil provides an extra portion of moisture.
- Wild rose oil cares for inflamed and combination skin. Wild rose oil also reduces pimple marks and scars.
- Grape seed oil is not comedogenic, refines the pores and is absorbed super fast.
You should avoid coconut oil. This oil is comedogenic, clogs the pores and causes even more skin impurities.
Dry skin
Dry skin tightens after cleansing. A facial oil for dry, flaky skin is rich in essential fatty acids and lipids, which are incorporated into the skin’s lipid layer. Especially a vegetable oil can store moisture longer than normal moisturizers.
These oils are suitable for the care of dry skin:
- Avocado oil contains omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins A and E. It also stimulates cell synthesis.
- Coconut oil has a high content of fatty acids. At the same time, this oil soothes irritated skin and reduces wrinkles and pigmentation spots.
- Olive oil is extremely moisturizing and provides more elasticity thanks to vitamins A and E.
Sensitive skin
Redness, irritation, itchy skin – sensitive skin sometimes reacts like a diva. Good is a facial oil free of synthetic additives or perfume, but with skin soothing properties.
The following oils have proven their worth in the care of sensitive skin:
- Marula oil contains antioxidants, is quickly absorbed by the skin and retains moisture for a long time. Marula oil not only cares for the complexion, but also protects it from environmental influences.
- Almond oil is the classic in skin care. This oil regenerates irritated skin, relieves redness and scars.
- Calendula oil prevents inflammations.
Demanding skin
You can save yourself Botox! Wrinkles and lines can be fought with the right oil. As a reward, the complexion looks firm and plump. A facial oil with vitamin C and E has a particularly intensive effect.
These are the best face oils for demanding skin:
- Argan oil has the highest concentration of essential fatty acids (over 80 percent). Besides the oil is rich in vitamin E and thus strongly antioxidative.
- Evening primrose oil contains a high concentration of unsaturated omega-6 fatty acids, provides extreme moisture and has a smoothing effect on the skin. If the skin is moisturized, it can regenerate faster and the aging process is delayed.
- Pomegranate oil is rich in vitamin C, which boosts collagen production. It also contains keratinocytes, a natural UV protection, and phytoestrogens, which are very similar to estrogens and tighten the skin.
You should pay attention to these 3 things when buying!
- Buy a high quality face oil. It should be cold pressed and natural, i.e. free of chemical additives.
- Vegetable oils are best. These are rich in unsaturated (non-comedogenic) fatty acids, which are similar in composition to skin lipids and are well absorbed by the skin.
- Depending on your skin type, check whether the face oil is comedogenic or non-comedogenic. The term comedogenic describes whether an oil clogs the pores and promotes blackheads or pimples.
How to use your face oil correctly
Facial oil can be used as a daily day or night care product. Ideally massage a few drops into the damp skin. For even more care, apply a cream after the oil. If you like, you can also mix the facial oil with the care.
