Avocado oil is not only used to refine dishes – it also has a convincing effect as a care product for skin and hair. Find out here all about the effects and application of the popular oil.
Avocado Oil: Ingredients and Effect
- Avocado oil consists of 70 percent unsaturated fatty acids plus 15 percent polyunsaturated fatty acids. In it oleic acid, linoleic acid and palmitoleic acid are represented. In addition Vitamin A, D and E are in the oil.
- If avocado oil is taken in with food, the body is pleased about the high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids and the extra portion of vitamins.
- When applied to the skin, avocado oil provides a lot of moisture and is therefore a beneficial care product, especially for dry, scaly and sensitive skin – without leaving an oily layer on the skin! The phystosterol content ensures that the oil is easily distributed and quickly absorbed. The oil can also help to improve neurodermatitis, psoriasis or sunburn.
- Avocado oil can reduce small wrinkles and scars thanks to the biotin and vitamin E it contains.
- Avocado oil is also a suitable remedy for dry and horny feet: It moisturizes the feet, softens them and reduces calluses.
- It can also soothe chapped skin and reduce inflammation, which is why it is also effective against pimples and blackheads and improves the appearance of the skin. It also contributes to cell regeneration.
- As long as avocado oil is used regularly, it can help with age spots: The sterolines it contains help to reduce the pigmentation.
- In hair care, avocado oil is suitable to restore brittle hair to a healthy condition and make it supple. In addition, the ingredients make the hair stronger against environmental influences and give it a beautiful shine.
Avocado Oil: Application
- Especially sensitive skin types benefit from the caring oil. Avocado oil can be used pure and is applied directly to dry or itchy areas. The treatment should be carried out regularly. Of course, conventional care products such as body lotion can also be mixed with a few drops of the oil and then applied.
- For use on the face, a little avocado oil is massaged in after cleansing with light pressure. Only for combination and normal skin, you should not use the oil too often.
- You can also use the oil as a cleanser and put a few drops on a damp cotton pad or sponge and gently cleanse your face with it.
- To reduce age spots, the avocado oil should be massaged into the respective skin areas twice a day. A little vinegar or lemon juice or even onion juice intensifies the effect (Attention: If you have sensitive skin, this product is only suitable to a limited extent, as the acids could damage the skin).
- After shaving, the avocado oil can be massaged in over a large area and soothes stressed skin.
- To get rid of calluses, milking fat and avocado oil are an unbeatable duo. Rub your feet first with some milking fat and then with the oil. Then put on cotton socks and leave everything on overnight. The corneal layer swells up and is then easier to remove.
- An intensive hair treatment is recommended for the hair by massaging the avocado oil into the hair. After several hours (preferably overnight – put on a plastic cap!) wash the hair thoroughly with shampoo.
- You can also make a hair mask by mixing 2 tablespoons of the oil with 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil and olive oil. Stir in a few squirts of lemon juice, mix well and massage the mask into the hair. Then let the mixture work for up to half an hour! Then rinse the hair with warm water.
Avocado Oil: Product Information
Avocado oil is the oil of the avocado fruit, which can be obtained by cold pressing, extraction or centrifugation. When buying avocado oil, make sure that it is of organic quality and that it is cold-pressed, otherwise too many nutrients will be lost.
The avocado oil should be stored in a dark container in a cool place: while the shelf life in the refrigerator can be up to one year, at room temperature it is only three months.
