Hair growth: Facts and figures

How fast hair grows depends on hair type, gender, age and other factors. On average, hair grows 0.3 to 0.5 millimeters per day. That is about 1 to 1.5 centimeters per month and thus 12 to 15 centimeters per year. Incidentally, hair grows faster in summer than in winter. In addition, women have less dense hair than men and slower hair growth.

7 beauty tips to help your hair grow faster

How fast hair grows is genetically determined. But with the following tips you can stimulate hair growth.

1. Relaxing head massage

Simple and effective: Give your scalp a short massage while shampooing. This stimulates the blood circulation and provides the hair roots with better nutrients. To do this, use your fingertips in circular movements, from the roots to the back of the head and from the neck upwards. A few drops of essential citrus oil are particularly stimulating. Shampoos with caffeine also work.

2. Regularly cutting tips

Simply letting the hair grow unfortunately does not lead to success. A top cut of one centimeter every three months prevents split ends and hair breakage and makes no dramatic difference in the desired length.

3. Gentle washing cycle

Less is often more! Daily washing puts a strain on the hair. A walnut-sized blob of shampoo is perfectly adequate. And: Do not wash your hair too hot. Use a peeling shampoo every fourth to fifth wash. This removes residues from the hair and scalp. If you want to let your hair grow faster, you should use a shampoo with caffeine once a week. Similar to a massage, this stimulates the microcirculation and thus growth. A subsequent rinsing with apple vinegar conjures up shine in the hair and cares for the scalp.

4. Brushing well

Brushing the hair also stimulates the blood flow to the scalp. Try to avoid brushing with plastic bristles. These cause injuries to the scalp, hair breakage and split ends. Better: pig bristles. These also distribute the natural sebum and provide extra shine.

5. Using oil care

Oils do not only provide shine to the hair, they let the hair grow faster. Especially castor oil or coconut oil in combination with a massage stimulate hair growth. Ideally, you should let the oil work once a week as a hair treatment overnight.

6. Sleeping on a silk pillow

Exchange the cotton cover for a silk pillow! This reduces the friction of the hair and thus also possible split ends or hair breakage and allows the hair to grow faster. Otherwise, braid the lengths to a loose braid.

7. The right nutrition

Nutrients provide the basis for healthy hair growth and keep the scalp in balance. Silica, biotin and trace elements such as iron, selenium or zinc have a growth-promoting effect. Vitamin C improves the hair structure. Stemoxydine is a special length guarantee. The small molecules stimulate the blood circulation and promote the absorption of nutrients.
