According to a study, anyone who wants to lose weight successfully should eat lunch particularly early. Is that the key to dietary success?

Researchers seem to disagree: Sometimes it doesn’t matter when we consume our calories throughout the day. Now the eating time does play an important role. A study by the University of Murcia in Spain says that it does matter when you eat the main meal of the day.

Early eaters lose weight faster

The research team investigated the extent to which different times of lunch had an effect on weight development. For this purpose 420 test persons were divided into two groups: Late and early eaters. The result: Those who took their lunch before 3 p.m. not only lost weight faster, but also significantly more. The participants who ate their lunch after 3 p.m. lost significantly less weight than their early blackheads. Calorie intake and sleep duration were also included in the analysis – but they had significantly less effect on weight development than the time of lunch.

Late lunch: Key to dietary success?

Of course, the correct timing of the lunch alone is not decisive for the success of the diet. Only if lunch is also the main meal of the day can you reach your desired weight with this method. Also important: Lunch must be an integral part of the daily rhythm. Make sure that it provides enough energy for the day, which you can save in the evening.
