This Bracelet Helps to Get Pregnant

Until now, it has been quite cumbersome to determine the fertile days in the cycle. Ava’s tracking bracelet promises more accuracy in determining them – in real time.

Fertility tracking with bracelet

Whether by using an ovulation and cycle calendar or the composition of the cervical mucus: there are many methods to determine your own fertility. However, these methods are not entirely accurate, especially if you have an irregular cycle. Now there is a new method: a bracelet that is able to analyse your fertile days in real time and evaluate the results. However, the tool is not only suitable for women who want to get pregnant, but also for women who want to better estimate their own menstrual cycle.

Ava is the name of the Swiss medical technology company that has now brought this innovation to the European market. The fertility tracker has been available in the USA since the summer of 2016, where, according to the Institute, it has already helped numerous women to become pregnant. Cost: 249 euros via the website Avawomen.com.

How does the tracking technology work?

The bracelet collects more than three million data points overnight in response to the increase in the hormones estradiol and progesterone. The data is based on nine parameters: resting pulse, skin temperature, sleep, respiratory rate, exercise, blood circulation, heart rate variability, bioimpedance and heat loss. As soon as the hormones increase, the wearer can see that her fertile days have begun during her cycle.

Otherwise, the bracelet is worn only at night, and the next morning the data is synchronized with the Ava app on the smartphone. A clinical study of the University Hospital of Zurich has conducted a one-year study on the accuracy of the cycle tracker under the direction of Prof. Brigitte Leeners. The results so far: The bracelet works with an accuracy of 89 percent and shows an average of 5.3 fertile days per cycle.
