Making a honey mask yourself: Here’s how it works
Note: Avoid the eye area during all applications of the honey mask!
Simple honey mask: Care for impure skin
- For a quick and easy honey mask, simply mix two tablespoons of honey with two tablespoons of warm water.
- Apply the mask to your cleansed face with a cosmetic brush or cloth.
- Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes. To bridge the waiting time and increase the effect, you can gently massage the honey into your face by running your fingers in circular movements over your face.
- After the application time, remove the mask with a cosmetic tissue and wash your face with plenty of warm water.
Honey quark mask: Moisturizer
- Mix equal parts of heated honey with curd cheese and add a few drops of olive oil.
- Stir well and then spread the mask over your cleansed face.
- After 15 minutes, wipe the mask with a damp cloth and thoroughly remove any residue with plenty of warm water.
Attention: Never heat honey above 40 °C, otherwise it loses its effect.
Honey healing clay mask: Help for impure skin
- Mix one tablespoon of healing clay with two tablespoons of liquid honey and add some water to give the mask a spreadable consistency.
- Apply the mask to your cleansed face and leave on for 20 minutes.
- Then remove the honey mask thoroughly with plenty of water. If necessary, you can use a warm and moist cloth to help.
Banana-honey mask: Moisturizing mask
- Crush a ripe banana with a fork until a creamy puree is obtained.
- Add a tablespoon of honey and mix everything thoroughly.
- Apply the face mask to your cleansed facial skin and leave it to work for half an hour before removing it with a cloth and plenty of warm water.
Honey tomato mask: Skin peeling for acne
- Wash two tomatoes thoroughly and puree them. Add a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of wheat bran and mix everything.
- Apply the mask to your cleansed face.
- Leave the mixture to work for half an hour and then remove the mask with a damp cloth and plenty of water.
Effect: The tomatoes enhance the antibacterial effect of the honey and the wheat bran has a gentle peeling effect.
Honey mask: How honey works on the skin
Besides its health effects, honey is a true beauty miracle for the skin:
- The honey contains antioxidants. Antioxidants are radical scavengers, i.e. they repel free radicals and thus protect the cells. Thus they help to counteract premature skin aging.
- Honey contains vitamins: Besides vitamins B2 and B6, there is also vitamin C, which improves the skin’s elasticity.
- Honey contains amino acids that stimulate collagen production in the cells, which improves the skin’s elasticity.
- Anti-inflammatory enzymes in honey ensure that the mask works against pimples and impure skin. In addition, honey is also disinfectant and has antibacterial properties.
- Honey makes the skin pleasantly soft and promotes blood circulation, which gives the skin a fresh appearance.
Honey mask: You must know that
- Apply the mask only to cleansed skin. Before doing so, wash your fingers thoroughly.
- Prepare only enough mass for the mask so that you can use it all in one application. The mask should not be stored.
- If you want to warm up the honey a little, never heat it above 40°C, otherwise the ingredients may lose their effect.
- A honey mask is especially good for impure skin and skin that tends to pimple. But always pay attention to the respective exposure time of the mask, so that the natural product can unfold its full effect.
- You can use the honey mask up to three times a week to benefit from its caring, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect.
- You can also use honey as an immediate remedy for single spots. Simply dab the honey with a cotton swab on the affected area and let it work.
- Manuka Honey in particular has very strong antibacterial properties, whereas the effect is much weaker with normal honey from the shops.
- When buying this natural product, make sure that it is of organic quality to avoid pesticide residues.
- Do not use the commercial household honey on open wounds!
