Fatty foods leave stubborn stains, but with the right home remedies we can easily remove grease stains.
Whether with fresh or dried grease stains – we do not like to use chemical cleaners such as benzine and the like. It is much more cost-effective if we use helpful household remedies. They are also more health and environmentally friendly.
Removing grease stains: From clothing
- Liquid soap: We can remove fresh grease splashes on clothing with hot water and liquid soap – especially oil stains. Either we treat them selectively or soak them completely. The textiles should then be washed as usual. Alternatively, washing powder, liquid detergent or bile soap (the latter also especially for wool) can help.
- Potato flour: A helpful household remedy to get rid of the grease stain is potato flour (also helps to remove blood stains). Put the flour on the stain so that the fat can be absorbed. Simply brush the whole thing off. By the way, dry shampoo, baby powder and starch flour are equally good fat removers (especially for oil stains).
- Blotting paper: The removal of stains from a garment also works with blotting paper, which is placed on the fresh stain and then ironed. The paper absorbs the grease.
- Alcohol: Especially dried stains can be removed with pure alcohol (also from leather and suede). Drop the alcohol on a cotton cloth and carefully work the grease stain with it. This stain removal also works on delicate fabrics such as silk.
Removing grease stains: From upholstery, sofa & carpet
- Potato flour: As with clothing, the flour must be applied to the stain. Allow to work in and brush off.
- Liquid soap/dishwashing liquid: Moisten grease stain with warm water and apply liquid soap or dishwashing liquid. Gently rub the stain with a cloth.
Removing grease stains: From the wall or wallpaper
- Baking powder: Mix warm water with baking powder and apply to the wall stain. Allow to dry and then vacuum.
- Starch flour: A stain on the wall can also be removed with a paste of water and starch flour.
- Blotting paper: Grease stains can be removed from walls and wallpaper with blotting paper. The iron is also used here again.
Removing grease stains: From tiles
- Vinegar essence: Vinegar is an all-rounder and also for removing red wine stains THE hit. A solution of warm water and vinegar essence (ratio 2:1) works wonders. Rinse the whole thing with clear water afterwards.
- Heavy duty detergent: Fresh tile stains can be removed with warm water and heavy duty detergent. Simply wash the tiles with this solution. In general, there are a number of things to consider when cleaning tiles. You can find more information here: Cleaning tiles.
