Cleaning Tip: You Should Do This Before You Clean Your Bathroom

Cleaning the bathroom is certainly not one of our favourite household tasks. All the better that this trick makes cleaning a lot easier for us.

Cleaning the bathroom is definitely not one of our favourite tasks. But, as they say, “What’s the word? And if this task is unavoidable, we can at least make it as pleasant as possible. Or above all: as simple as possible. Because there is a trick you should try out before the next bathroom cleaning job.

Take a hot, steamy shower!

I beg your pardon? Shower before cleaning? I thought that’s the reward I get when I’m done sweaty cleaning? Yes – and no. The hot shower BEFORE cleaning is supposed to do exactly one thing: heat up the dirt properly. The steam dissolves the dirt a bit. Afterwards it is easier to clean, because a lot of dirt is easier to clean.

Does that really work?

Yes! after all, steam cleaners, for which you put some money on the table, work on the same principle. The hot steam removes dirt from all kinds of surfaces. Of course, the shower steam is not as concentrated as that of a steam cleaner, but it is quite enough to make cleaning the bathroom, walls, sink, toilet and shower or bath a little easier.

Important: Do not open the window or door while showering so that the steam in the bathroom can escape.

After all, it is said to work wonders in the bathroom. After the shower you may clean the bathroom. And at the end of the day there should be proper ventilation. After all, the bathroom should not become a permanent sauna – and we don’t want to see mould there either.

If you don’t want to get sweaty and dirty again after a fresh shower while scrubbing, you can make a deal with your partner: One of you takes a shower while the other cleans the bathroom. The next week, they will then swap. That way you save one shower before and the other after cleaning.
With a little discipline, the job is done in no time at all – and we can devote ourselves again to the beautiful things in life; at least until next week.
