4 Beauty Secrets that Every Italian Knows

We love the Italians – not only their fashion style, but also their beauty know-how. We reveal four secrets that each of them knows. What about you?

1. Using colours correctly

If there is one golden rule that almost every Italian woman observes, it is this one: Restraint is the key – at least when it comes to bright colors. Italian bloggers and It Girls go for a flashy tone – like red or pink on the lips – and the rest of the make-up remains rather plain. If the eyes are accentuated, Italian girls usually don’t wear anything on their lips (or just a gloss). This makes the look coherent and not too crass. In general, however, Italian girls tend to wear less colorful tones – for them, naturalness is the main focus.

2. Italian Browgame

When it comes to eyebrows, Italian women don’t fool us. Their secret? Get it waxed! You can’t get full eyebrows by plucking them permanently. If you want full eyebrows, you have to grit your teeth. That way the hair will find its own natural shape. And in the end it doesn’t matter if there are a few more hairs here and there. Because it’s exactly this very concise, bushy look that Italian women love – and so do we. Especially in the front part of the eyebrows, the hairs may get a little out of control, but in the back they are less likely to grow. You can easily tame and shape them with a brow gel. If you have too many gaps, the eyebrows will be coloured regularly, so you won’t even notice it!

3. Keep it simple

Italians let their skin breathe – that’s why less is more, especially when it comes to make-up. Foundation? Wrong! Since their skin usually looks sun-kissed anyway, most impurities and eye shadows are only covered with concealer. This is firstly more pleasant in warm temperatures and secondly the result looks much more natural. The same applies to evening make-up: less if more. They don’t exaggerate with Smokey Eyes and Co. either, but rather focus on muted colours and textures suitable for everyday use. It does not always have to be colourful.

4. Sleek Hair

Even if we don’t always feel like conjuring up a cool hairstyle – it would make a sea of hair. The Italians, for example, rely on a strictly tied sleeky bun or braid in every situation in life. It always looks stylish and classy – without a lot of effort. On the beach, at work or at an event, this hairstyle is a real all-rounder. Trust us!
