Mermaid Make-up: Instructions and Ideas

“The Little Mermaid” – we loved that fairy tale when we were children! If you would like to slip into the role of the little mermaid yourself, this is the right place for you: We’ll show you how to make yourself up as a mermaid in no time at all!

Mermaid Make-up: You Need

• Moisturizing cream, Hair tie
• Net (e.g. fishnet pantyhose, vegetable or fruit net)
• Hair slides
• Make-up in white, blue, turquoise, purple and pink (cool “water colours” are particularly suitable)
• Alternative: Shimmering eyeshadow in matching colour
• Glitter and glitter stones to glue on
• Eyelash glue to fix the glitter stones
• Lipstick in metallic, pink or purple
• Brushes
• Mascara
• Kajal as desired (e.g. in white, light blue, metallic)
• Little sponges

Mermaid Make-up: How to Do It

1. Apply plenty of moisturizer to your face: This will make the make-up last better and protect your skin.
2. Tie your hair back so it won’t fall on your face.
3. Place a net over an area of your face and pin it with hair clips.
4. Dab the desired colours onto your skin with a cosmetic sponge. The net creates a pattern that imitates fish scales. The sponge also creates gentle transitions that indicate the reflection of the scales. If you prefer a subtle colour gradient, you can also apply several colours of eye shadow with a large brush. Multiple colours in particular produce a beautiful Hollographic effect.
5. Remove the net.
6. With a fine brush and some white make-up you can paint and emphasize the lines of the pattern.
7. Apply coloured eye shadow on the eyelid and let it run out swinging.
8. If you like, you can still tint your eyes and set accents with Kajal.
9. Now only glitter and a striking lipstick are missing! Glitter make-up is best applied sparingly but skilfully, e.g. from the lower eyelid line to the cheeks. To apply the glittering stones, apply some eyelash glue to the respective areas of the skin and thus fix the stones.

As an additional accessory, you can attach small starfish or shells to hair slides with a little hot glue or use them to effectively show off your hair.
