One of the most common questions mothers ask after giving birth is “when can i start dieting after giving birth?” In fact, breastfeeding is a diet. During breastfeeding, the body consumes an extra 200 calories.
If we make an account, 200 calories per day means 6000 calories per month. 6000 calories means approximately 700 800 grams of fat tissue is spent. If food intake continues during breastfeeding as during pregnancy, 700 – 800 grams may be given as extra fat tissue per month.
Diet Program During Breastfeeding
When we say diet, it is important how strict we mean a diet. During breastfeeding, certain foods can never be removed from the daily meal. Milk and dairy products should be consumed frequently. Omega 3-related foods, protein foods and 2 liters of water per day are food stuffs that can never be sacrificed.
Foods To Avoid in The Diet
For a softer diet, the mother can avoid carbohydrate foods on her own. Since carbohydrate-containing foods such as bread, pasta, rice, pies, desserts and the like are the most converted into fatty tissue, the mother can reduce them if she wants to diet without anyone’s help. But there is no such thing as reducing protein foods. If the mother is drinking fruit juice, she can prefer fresh juices. It is easy to drink between half a liter and one liter because there is sugar in the ready fruit juices and because it is very easy to drink. Avoiding this can be beneficial as it causes unnecessary calorie intake. Other than that, you should avoid unconscious diets. If a mother says that “I want to have a strict diet”, she should diet by waiting for the 6-week period to end and getting help from the dietician.
