The bigger and brighter, the better! We reveal 7 tricks that will make your eyes look bigger.
Beauty trends come and go, but big eyes is what we all want – always. Some women are blessed with them (see Emma Stone or Mila Kunis), but the rest have to make a small effort to make their eyes look bigger. Luckily, cosmetic products and a few little tricks help us do just that. We’ll tell you how to get beautiful big eyes step by step.
1. Nude eyeshadow
Apply matte eye shadow in nude on her eyelids. This creates a good base, evens out redness and thus creates an even image.
2. Eyeliner
It is best to use brown or taupe eyeliner. Apply it lightly and let it fade slightly upwards at the outer ends so that your eyes look larger and not rounder. Caution: If you have slight drooping eyelids, end the eyeliner with a small twist upwards already at the end of the corner of the eye and do not pull it further into a swallow tail.
3. Light kohl
Apply white, cream or turquoise kohl to your lower waterline, preferably a soft, creamy one – this will visually brighten your eyes and make them look bigger. Dark kohl should be applied more heavily towards the end of your outer eye corner, not on the waterline, but slightly below it on the base of your lashes.
4. Create depth
Apply another eye shadow that is one or two shades darker than the nude one. Apply this in and above the crease of the eyelid. Blend it with a finger in the direction of your eyebrows.
5. Shimmer accents
Shimmering eyeshadows make the eyes shine. Apply some eyeshadow to the center of the eyelid with your finger – this bounces the light back from the center of the eyelid, making the eyes appear more awake.
6. Highlighter
Dab your inner eye corners with light powder or a highlighter with your finger. For an awake and open look, use the highlighter below the eyebrow arch as well. Make sure that the lower hairs of your brows are plucked, as this will increase the distance between the lid and the brow, which in turn will make the eyes look bigger.
7. Eyelashes
The longer and thicker your lashes, the more beautiful the look. First shape the lashes with an eyelash curler and then apply mascara. To avoid a kink, bend the lashes three times: at the base, in the middle and at the tips. Warm the tongs briefly with a hairdryer beforehand, then the lashes can be shaped better. If that’s not enough for you, invest in false eyelashes or an eyelash extension.
