We all want beautiful, radiant skin. We will show you how to achieve a really great glow with bronzing powder, shimmer creams, rouge and self-tanner.
Glow through shimmer effects
Young skin glows by itself: It is still well moisturized, smooth and flexible and has a very slight natural shimmer. This glow can be imitated with light shine fluids or powder. They contain the finest pigments, which are coated in golden or silvery-pink and lie on the skin like a veil to reflect incident light and make the complexion glow. This mirror effect allows the luster pigments to visually balance out redness and pigmentation spots, so that the skin appears more even – which is then perceived as “young” by the person opposite. The important thing is to use shimmering creams, powders and oils to glow only delicately and not to glitter like a sparkle.
That’s how it’s done:
You should take two things to heart: a product that visibly glitters is only suitable for the body, but not for the face, and sparing dosing pays off. It’s best to dab the shimmer on with your fingertips and then create soft transitions to the rest of the skin by gently rubbing it. A silver or rose shimmer looks most natural on light skin.
A slightly darker complexion also tolerates slightly reddish and golden nuances. Martin Schmid, make-up artist at Chanel, recommends applying the glow products in a “C”: “First on the outer area of the browbones, then go down in a semicircle on the cheekbones and distribute the shimmer on the cheekbones towards the center of the face . That looks like well lit. ”
Glow with self tanner
A light tan and a healthy appearance: For many people, these two belong together. It’s a good thing that thanks to self-tanning, the sun shines almost all the time (and it’s skin-friendly), the products now also smell more pleasant, are suitable for all skin types and are available in many nuances.
That’s how it’s done:
Exfoliate one day before use and apply lotion shortly beforehand – this will prevent irregular tanning. Treat the ears and neck as well, then the fake looks more natural. Many tanning fluids also contain the active ingredient erythrulose, which tones the skin with a reddish shade and thus prevents an orange shimmer. Instant products that tan instantly and last only 24 hours are also practical. They can be washed off at any time in the shower with soap and water.
By the way: If the self-tanners are already a little older, they can lose their effect. “If even new products do not tan anymore, the activity of the body’s own enzyme that converts the active ingredient dihydroxyacetone into brown dye may be exhausted,” explains dermatologist Dr. Patricia Ogilvie. “With regular use, this can happen. But after a break, it regenerates itself again”.
Glow with bronzers and rouge
On their own, bronzers can sometimes make the skin look tired, but together with blush they make for a fresh, summery complexion.
That’s how it’s done:
Apply the bronzer where the sun tans first: nose, cheeks, forehead and chin. A thick powder brush is easier than a sponge. Unsure which bronzer tone suits you? As a rule of thumb: better golden brown than auburn, better less than more. If you wipe the brush off the back of your hand beforehand, the amount of powder is easier to dose. For dry skin, it is better to use a bronzing fluid so that the powder particles do not dry out the skin additionally. For light skin, you can also use a peach-colored blush instead of bronzer – it looks beautifully natural. Rouge in pink then provides freshness: smile and apply to the highest point of the cheeks.
On the body, the bronzer transitions must be well veneered, otherwise it will quickly look fake. For décolleté and shoulders, a slightly flattened brush is ideal, with which the color is rubbed in circular movements.
Glow through the right hair color
Yes, that really works – as long as the hair color flatters the complexion instead of making it look pale and sallow.
That’s how it’s done:
If you have an olive complexion by nature, you should keep your hands off bleachings. This combination unfortunately always looks very artificial. Olive types have a warm skin undertone, which gets glow with dark colors. And: “Eye color also plays a role in choosing the right hair color,” says Berlin hairdresser Shan Rahimkhan. “Dark brown eyes and olive skin need cool dark tones like blue-black, coffee brown or ash brown. On the other hand, if you have olive or yellowish skin and light brown or green eyes, you are right with golden brown or dark red-blond. For a complexion with a slight reddish tinge, it is best to choose ashy nuances or sandy blonde tones. Blond tones with a relatively light complexion and blue or green eyes also produce maximum glow.
