1. Use the Buddy System
If you have a sports partner, you overcome your baser instincts much more often than if you have to drag yourself to exercise. The buddy system is based on mutual control and security – the companion inspires, motivates and exchanges ideas with you. Studies have shown that you tend to do your sports programme as a duo rather than solo.
2. Transform your food environment
Do chips, candy and ice cream have a permanent place on your shelf? Then we advise you to push unhealthy things away a little bit. How about the top shelf for chocolate, where you can’t reach it anyway, or the back corner of the freezer for ice cream? A small change and – admittedly – a small psyche fuck-up, but it’s a big effect.
3. Always stand up straight
It sounds so simple – and yet many people make the office back in their everyday life. A straight posture not only radiates more self-confidence, but also plays a key role in every sport. With a crooked back, it’s almost impossible to realize your full potential during exercise. So: always stand up straight.
4. Do not fall into old habits
You ate a whole box of chips or a bar of chocolate the night before? No reason to break off the diet you started and fall back into old habits. Don’t let setbacks throw you off track because: Our greatest weakness is giving up. The surest way to success is to simply try again.
5. No means no!
The more you take “no” for granted, the more it becomes flesh and blood. No more excuses, no more wishy-washy – no means no. The same applies to your “yes”, by the way – this too should be brought out with conviction, e.g. when you make decisions in favour of your health.
