We have counted: Tattoo motives there are insanely many! If you’re looking for inspiration, click through our gallery – tips for decision-making can be found below!
Tattoo Motives: Unlimited variety
From mandalas to lettering and barcodes to people, animals and flowers – there are no longer any limits to the selection of tattoo motifs! On the one hand that is great, but on the other hand it also makes the decision on a motif quite difficult. For those who are undecided who would like to have “something fancy on their forearms” anyway. But even people who actually know exactly, “I want my Indian zodiac sign!” Can unsettle and shake the breadth of the offer.
How do I find the right motif?
To get our own priorities, wishes and ideas clear for us, it does not hurt to ask ourselves a few questions before making a tattoo decision. For example:
- Should the motif have a deeper meaning?
- Should my tattoo primarily just be chic and look good?
- How important is it to me that my motif is unique?
- Would I like to have a hip, trendy tattoo motif that is totally hip right now – even if it might not be trendy in ten years?
- Which motif have I always liked?
But basically there are no rules for “right” and “wrong” tattoo decisions – after all, tattoos are an expression of our own personality and don’t have to please anyone but ourselves. Some would like the infinity symbol with the initial of their loved one from the catalog, others wear the first picture of their daughter on their skin and still others let the tattoo artist of their confidence design an abstract motif that is simply beautiful and unique. All fine! As long as it’s what we’re really passionate about – and not what’s most often seen in our Instagram feed…
Which decision would I regret?
Sure, it happens again and again that people regret their tattoos – it is not for nothing that cover-ups and laser treatments are increasingly in demand. But once you have decided on a tattoo, you should keep in mind that you absolutely wanted it at a certain point in your life – and that is ultimately significant enough, even with an absolutely trendy tattoo. Carrying the memory of this one phase and situation in your skin is something beautiful, after all, nothing comes back in life. Still, two tips to minimize the chances that we will go to cover with our tattoos after a few years:
- Don’t underestimate the visual aspect! Yes, that the tattoo has a deeper meaning is important to many and that’s okay too. But also with symbol tattoos, we should attach great importance to the fact that they look beautiful – because if something you love turns into a sight that you can hardly endure, that’s twice as bad!
- Be careful with color! Colorful tattoos are great! But as a wearer – as the experience of many tattoo artists shows – you get over them faster than black-and-gray motifs. When it comes to color, just think a day longer and at least think about whether the desired motif would also work in black and gray.
