Ben Cooke, stylist of the Australian hair care brand Aussie (already styled the hair of Victoria Beckham), knows how to make quick hairstyles. The best tips and hairstyles are here!
Sometimes it just has to go fast. With a little practice, these hairstyles can be done in under 10 minutes – and still look really classy. Plus: the nine best styling tips from the pros!
1. What hairstyling succeeds every woman?
Says Ben Cooke, Aussie hairstylist: “The chignon is the ultimate hairstyle because it’s effortless and cool at the same time. To keep the chignon smooth, tousle the hair with a fine-tooth comb and use a little hairspray to prevent frizz and frizzy hair.”
The perfect hairstyle for it: The Top Knot
The top knot that adorns the heads of It girls from Berlin to Meppen. Here’s how to do it in two minutes: Tie a high ponytail, wrap the hair around and pin the ends of the hair behind the knot. If you like, you can pin individual strands to the back of your head with pretty hair clips.
2. Do you have a tip for a 5-minute hairstyle?
“After washing your hair, blow dry it only half dry and then apply a light oil, (such as “3 Miracle Oil Reconstructor”) to the middle lengths and ends – this gives them a beautiful shine, smoothes them and at the same time nourishes damaged hair. Then knot the half-dry mane into a chignon. Loosen the chignon on the way to work, so the hair falls in defined beach waves.”
The perfect hairstyle for it: Small knot
Looks complicated, but it’s not. Thanks to the miraculous invention called Hairloop! This great mini tool can namely bring the hair into such an intricate shape. Simply place the Hairloop with the loop around the braid, guide the tip from top to bottom behind the braid and pull the hair through. In this variant, the ponytail was folded over the top and the tips once again wrapped around the resulting knot.
3. An SOS trick when the hairstyle no longer holds
“For example, if curls have unhooked over time, simply switch to a messy chignon. To do this, first tie a strict ponytail so that the hair is close to the head. Tie the actual chignon more loosely. This gives it a great contrast and still makes the hairstyle look casual.”
The perfect hairstyle for it: two snails
Divide and twist the strands and pin – what is said in seven words, takes three minutes. But still looks more elaborate and very refined.
4. What kind of hair styling do you advise women who have thin and fine hair?
Ben Cooke: “Women with thin and fine hair should have their hair cut regularly. It is important that the hair is cut clean and straight – so it looks more compact and strong. And even if many women will not like to hear it: The shorter the hair, the better!”
The perfect hairstyle for it: Twisted updo
Make a deep side parting and twirl a strand on one side and pin it in place with little clips. Light waves conjure up extra volume.
5. Should the hair be washed or unwashed when styling a hairstyle?
“I think in most cases, e.g. for special occasions, you get better results if the hair has been freshly washed beforehand. However, make sure not to use too much conditioner – preferably only in the tips. However, if you opt for a braid, the hairstyle will turn out better if the hair has not been washed immediately before. This not only makes the hair more manageable, but it also holds better when styling.”
The perfect hairstyle for it: only with a bow
So simple and so magical: only a black velvet bow decorates this loose braid. Fits the look perfectly and can be done in a sensational 1:30 min!
6. What quick hairstyle is the trend hairstyle for summer?
“On all the catwalks of this world we currently see natural hair textures – so why not try it ‘au naturell’! For this, it is first and foremost important that the hair is moisturized. Twirl individual strands while hair is still wet and pin them in place with a bobby pin.”
The perfect hairstyle: two strands, one minute
Sure, the highlight of this hairstyle is the pretty moon barrette. But how elegantly merely two strands can be brought together at the back of the head is as impressive as it is simple. The important thing with this look is the extremely straight hair. If you have light waves, you should prepare the hair with a straightening iron before styling – then it will take five minutes longer, of course.
8. How do you style hair on the beach?
“I personally love the beach look when you come out of the sea and just let your hair air dry. Of course, the sun and salt water can also stress the hair quite a bit. My tip: In the morning after shampooing, distribute a little hair conditioner into the ends and do not rinse. Tie the hair up and enjoy the day at the beach without letting the hair get wet in the sea. In the evening, untie the braid, rinse the cure and enjoy the ultra well-groomed hair.”
The perfect hairstyle for this: Hair loop thank you
Again, a sophisticated flash hairstyle thanks to hair loop. Practiced create it in – tataaaa – ONE minute. Tie the braid low on the back of the head, place the loop of the hair loop around the braid and hold it at the straight end, then guide it down and tuck it behind the braid. Thread hair through, done!
9. Your style secret tip for a dream mane?
Ben Cooke: “Give your hair a day off from styling. For example, if you have no plans on a Sunday, don’t wash off the conditioner after washing and let your hair air dry. ”
The perfect hairstyle to go with it: A piece of braid
Who says you always have to pull everything off? Two braiding movements are enough to create a loose braid hairstyle. Tie the ends of the hair with a transparent mini hair elastic.
